Collecting diverse dots to spark meaningful change

The term “User Experience” no longer adequately captures the breadth of a designer’s work. Today, the role of designers has expanded far beyond traditional definitions.

User experience and customer experience are just one aspect of a broader business landscape. If users or customers are unhappy, businesses suffer.

Designers must navigate the delicate balance between user needs and business objectives, much like a compass pointing in multiple directions.

Design must be inclusive for diverse human segments while also fair for businesses, users, and society as a whole.

Referring to designers solely as “user experience designers” overlooks the business impact of their work.

While user satisfaction is crucial, it isn’t the only metric that matters. Designers are also responsible for demonstrating ROI (Return on Investment).

Simply satisfying users is insufficient; a successful strategy must align user delight with business goals.

A designer oscillates between focusing on the user and business, like a compass pointing in different directions.

The term “User Experience” fails to encompass the full scope of designer’s contributions.
